Resource-Specific Notes

Products

• Variants inherit product locale settings
• Ensure products are published before translating
• Draft products can be translated but won’t be visible

Collections

• Smart collection rules are not translated
• Product assignments work across locales
• Collection images don’t need translation

Metafields

• Must be marked as “translatable” in Shopify
• Configure which definitions to translate via /app/metadata-settings
• Settings stored per-shop in session data
• JSON metafields: Only string values translated
• Numeric and boolean metafields: Not translated

• Requires Shopify 2.0 theme
• Theme files must use translation filters
• Some custom themes may need updates
